25 years experience, including 15 years as a generalist Human Resources Manager in a large corporate and 10 years as General Manager of two not-for-profit organisations, has given me a sound understanding of the needs and challenges of both small and large organisations.

This professional experience has led me to establish ThelmaFrench.com specializing in HR consulting and advocacy.

HR Consulting
I work with businesses and other organisations, building on what is already in place or, if necessary, starting with a clean slate. I have a toolkit of systems, policies and procedures that I customize to specific requirements. I work with both management and staff in the development, training and implementation of those customised solutions.

My experience is that most staff want to do a good job and it is up to the organization to provide clear parameters for their roles. This usually results in improved communication, increased productivity, reduced conflict and higher staff retention. I work with management and staff to identify reasons for performance that is below expectations and to find solutions that fulfill the needs of both parties. If satisfactory resolution is not reached, other appropriate courses of action are suggested.
