Employee Advocacy

My long experience in HR and general management has given me first hand experience of how things can go wrong in the workplace, resulting in conflict and dissatisfied managers and employees. We spend a lot of time at work, so it is essential to resolve any differences as soon as possible.

Sometimes an employee may need independent advice and support. I represent employees who are experiencing problems at work, using my background in employee and employer advocacy in a pragmatic and effective way to achieve the best available outcome for my client, the employee.

My approach is to listen to my client’s story, look at what has occurred and establish what actions may be available. I encourage my clients to keep an open mind because often, once the issues have been discussed with the employer, the situation can be resolved to their mutual satisfaction.

Conflict in the workplace does not benefit anyone. It is usual for both parties to want the matter settled amicably and this can normally be achieved by negotiation.

Sometimes the situation has progressed to a stage where it cannot be so easily resolved and my client may want me to assist them in some, or all, of the following ways:

  • compose a letter to the employer
  • support them during a disciplinary meeting
  • prepare a personal grievance
  • negotiate with their employer on their behalf
  • support them in mediation.

This can be a very stressful time with the danger of damage to both career and confidence if not handled appropriately. It is sensible, even vital, to employ the services of an experienced professional.

ThelmaFrench.com provides those services.
